How Often Should You Change Your Oil?

Oil Change

The health of your vehicle is a critical component of you getting through life without a hitch. One relatively low-maintenance way to keep your vehicle running as it should in Minneapolis is to get the oil changed regularly. Improvements in automotive engineering mean that these days, you’ll generally want to wait 7,500 to 10,000 miles between oil changes. However, we think it’s best if you check your owner’s manual to really know what’s going on with your vehicle in particular when you come to get auto service.

Recommended Oil Change Frequency

How often should you change your oil? The oil change frequency depends on what vehicle you drive and how you drive it. Some cars have a more frequent oil change frequency than others, but generally, 7,500 to 10,000 miles is a good interval for most people. If you’re headed through St. Paul and doing any of this, you might want to get an oil change more frequently:

  • Off-roading
  • Commercial use
  • Racing
  • Heavy towing

Oil Change Frequency Information

  • Your owner’s manual will tell you whether your car in Blaine takes synthetic or conventional oil. Synthetic oil costs more but lasts longer.
  • Oil will eventually break down, even when you don’t frequently drive. If you don’t drive often, change your oil at least twice a year.
  • Make sure you change your oil filter when you change your oil. Our parts team can get you what you need.

How Often Should You Check Your Oil Level?

You should check your oil level at least once a month to make sure you steer clear of any major problems. If you see changes in your oil’s color or texture, this might be the sign that a more serious problem is brewing. Schedule service with the team at Rosedale Chevrolet and we’ll get you back on the streets of Blaine in no time flat.
